UPDATE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Happy New Year.  Thank you.  2006 was good.  2007 will be better.

As always, I ask the two most important questions: (1) what does TSSAS need to be doing, but is not doing? and (2) has TSSAS done everything it needs to be doing so more people can enjoy the beautiful game as it was meant to be played?  Stated differently: How we are doing?  What do we need to be doing better or differently?

The three senior commissioners remain the vanguard of TSSAS.  In early January 2007, I unexpectedly received Bob’s voluntary resignation. Reluctantly, I had to accept his voluntary resignation.  We have appointed Carlos Rodriguez to replace Bob until the mid-year meeting.  I thank Bob for his service as Men’s Senior Commissioner.  I thank Carlos for stepping in when asked.  I thank Jeanne and Debbie for their ongoing service.   The heart and soul of TSSAS remain strong.

We will have to approve a new budget at the mid-year meeting.  This is the first budget after the distribution of most of the surplus.  We are busy, in conjunction with the Budget Committee of Brian Hardin, Efrain Loayza and Alice Klein, evaluating the current budget and looking for reasonable budget cuts.  We will provide the proposed budget as soon as it is available for your review and comment.  You can help us nevertheless by telling us what you would like to see in the proposed budget.

We are part of the larger national football family.  As one of the largest state associations (and as the most significant state association), we should have input in the current debate as to the scope and direction of the U. S. Men’s National Team.  Please let me know what message we need to send to Bob Bradley and Preki.

We will continue to forward email information and updates throughout the year.  Tell us if there is any information that you would like to receive, but are not currently receiving from us.   Tell us if you do not receive as much information from us.

Pace e salute
